Modern town with great M27 access, a large retail park, the Ageas Bowl, and Wildern Leisure Centre.
Hedge End is a modern town in the south-east of Eastleigh Borough, adjoining West End and Botley. It grew rapidly in the second half of the 20th century and is now one of the largest settlements in the borough.
The town is well known for its large out-of-town retail park featuring major chain stores, alongside Wildern Leisure Centre (sports hall, gym, and swimming), which serves the whole east of the borough. The Ageas Bowl (home of Hampshire Cricket and an outdoor concert venue) straddles the boundary between West End and Hedge End.
Hedge End has two motorway junctions (M27 Junctions 7 and 8) making it one of the best-connected areas in Hampshire. Hedge End railway station offers direct services to Southampton and Fareham. The area is largely car-oriented but has good cycle routes.
New residential development has been significant in recent years. Property is typically modern and well-priced for the area — semi-detached homes average around £350,000.
Families are drawn to Hedge End for the retail and leisure offer, good road links, and access to well-regarded secondary schools including Wildern School.
