Large village 3–4 miles east of Eastleigh with a semi-rural character, Knowle Park, and strong community identity.
Fair Oak is a large village approximately 3–4 miles east of Eastleigh town centre. Together with Horton Heath, the Fair Oak and Horton Heath civil parish has around 20,000 residents across two local wards.
The village has a strong sense of independent identity, reinforced most recently by the unanimous refusal (in 2025, by the local area committee) of a 245-home Bloor Homes development on Mortimers Lane — a decision taken against the planning officers' recommendation.
The village centre has local shops, takeaways, and services including Must Have (kebab, pizza, burgers takeaway on Latham Road) and Taroka Indian Takeaway on Fair Oak Road. Knowle Park provides open space, a skate park, a play area, and a trig point with views towards Durley and the Ageas Bowl.
Fair Oak Park, an adjacent residential development completed over recent years, has expanded the population significantly.
The area has a semi-rural character with woodland, farmland, and easy access to the wider Hampshire countryside. It is car-dependent but not far from the B3037 linking to Eastleigh and the M3.
