Hamble-le-Rice

Picturesque sailing village on the River Hamble with cobbled streets, three marinas, and excellent restaurants.

Hamble-le-Rice is a sailing village on the east bank of the River Hamble estuary, in the south of Eastleigh Borough. It is widely considered one of the most attractive villages in Hampshire.

The village has three marinas — Hamble Point Marina, Port Hamble Marina, and Mercury Marina — and a strong sailing heritage. The cobbled High Street leads down to the quayside, lined with independent shops, restaurants, and pubs. It's a popular day-trip destination from Eastleigh (around 20–25 minutes by car).

Hamble is also historically significant as one of the sites where Spitfires were manufactured during the Second World War, giving it a connection to Eastleigh's Spitfire heritage.

The village is highly desirable and property prices reflect this — among the highest in the borough. There is limited new development and a strong community identity tied to the river and sailing scene.

If you're looking for a proper Hampshire village experience — cobbled streets, river views, and independent restaurants — Hamble is the top choice within easy reach of Eastleigh.
