Eastleigh and the surrounding area have a decent independent cafe scene alongside the familiar chains. Here are the spots our editors return to.
Poppins Cafe, Eastleigh Town Centre
Poppins is the kind of no-nonsense town-centre cafe that Eastleigh residents have relied on for years — breakfasts, sandwiches, and hot drinks at fair prices. It sits off the High Street and fills up during the working week with regulars and shoppers.
Evi Bakehouse
A newer addition to the area, Evi Bakehouse has built a following for its homemade pastries, sourdough, and specialty coffee. The atmosphere is relaxed and the food is made on the premises — a step up from the chains.
Coffee#1, Chandler's Ford
The Chandler's Ford branch of Coffee#1 (the Bristol-based independent chain that has stayed genuinely indie despite scaling) is a reliable stop on the Kingsway. Good filter coffee, comfortable seating, and a menu that does the basics well. Busiest on Saturday mornings.
Marks & Spencer Cafe, Swan Centre
Not the most exciting entry, but the M&S cafe in the Swan Centre is genuinely one of the better sit-down options in Eastleigh town centre. Good for a post-shopping lunch; quality is consistent.
Costa, Eastleigh High Street
If you need chain coffee in the town centre, the High Street Costa is the most central option. Standard Costa offering; reliably busy.
Chandler's Ford independents
The Kingsway in Chandler's Ford has several independent cafes and bakeries worth exploring on foot — the area's suburban character supports a different cafe culture from the town centre, with more family-oriented and work-from-home patronage during weekday mornings.
